Service
Service
At Byron Baptist, service flows from following Jesus together. Scripture and church history show that Christian growth happens in community, and serving one another is one of the primary ways God shapes us. This service may take many forms—within the church, in personal relationships, and throughout our local community.
We understand service as intentionally seeking the spiritual and practical good of others. While not every act of service is formal or organized, it is always encouraged and supported. Our pastors are glad to help individuals find meaningful ways to serve alongside others.
Jesus makes clear that this life of service is central to Christian faith (Matthew 28:19–20, ESV). As we serve, we not only carry the Good News outward, but we are also continually formed into Christ’s likeness together.
Brotherhood
The Brotherhood of Byron Baptist Church is a ministry for men that desire to serve those in need, both within the church and our city.
The Brotherhood raise money throughout the year to help those that need a hand. Each month there is a gathering on Sunday morning before Sunday School where men gather for breakfast and to have a devotional led by special guest speakers. Please give the church office a call or contact if you are interested in joining the Brotherhood Ministry or would like to make a donation to its cause.
WMU
Byron Baptist WMU (Women’s Missionary Union) is established to equip women of the church in fulfilling the Great Commission. Here at Byron Baptist we strive to encounter God, develop disciples and impact the world for Christ. Our annual calendar from September through May is planned for us to meet monthly so our group can be active in mission work on the home and foreign fields. Periodically we deliver food to the Ronald McDonald House, we also pack Dental Zip Locks for the RBA dental clinic, visit retirement homes and make hand-tied quilts to distribute locally and for our Moldova overseas mission. We lead the whole church to actively pack OCC shoeboxes each November for Franklin Graham’s Samaritan Purse Ministry.
Operation Christmas Child
Byron Baptist Church is proud to partner with Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child, a hands-on way for our congregation to bless children in need around the world. Each year, we collect and pack shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items that serve as a tangible expression of God’s love.
More than just a gift, these shoeboxes open doors for the Greatest Journey discipleship program, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ with children and their families in over 170 countries. We invite everyone to join us each November as we gather to pack boxes, pray over the gifts, and send them out to reach the ends of the earth.
Food Pantry
Our Food Pantry ministry exists to meet the practical needs of our neighbors by providing essential groceries and support to families facing food insecurity. We believe that caring for the physical hunger of those in our community is a vital part of our calling to love our neighbors as ourselves.
The pantry is stocked through the generosity of our church members and local partners, ensuring that no one in our area has to go without. If you are in need of assistance or would like to volunteer your time to help sort and distribute items, please contact the church office to see how you can get involved in this life-changing ministry.
